  1. PasteIt notes is intended to be used to replace those sticky yellow notes that many people have stuck all over the place. Just create a pasteit note and 'stick' it on your screen wherever you like. It will stay there until you move it or delete it (assuming that the PasteIt Notes application is running). PasteIt Notes will collect all of these notes and keep them in a single file. When the file is opened, all of the notes will be placed on the screen just as they were when you last saw them. You may rearrange the notes to taste (I prefer to switch between tiled notes and diagonal notes).

  3. Installation
  4. No installation steps are required for PasteIt Notes (other then putting the application on your disk). If you are running 7.0, PasteIt Notes will place its preferences file in your Preferences Folder, otherwise the preferences file will be placed in your System Folder.

  6. Changes for Version 3.0
  7. Version 3.0 is largely a re-write. Some of the new features are:

  9. ‚Ä¢    Publish and Subscribe
  10. ‚Ä¢    Rainbow Colored Notes (a different color every time you create a note)
  11. ‚Ä¢    The ability to iconify a note (shrink it until it looks like a push-pin).
  12. ‚Ä¢    When a new note is created, you will be able to set an option to immediately name it
  13. ‚Ä¢    Styled TextEdit (mixed fonts and sizes in a single note)
  14. ‚Ä¢    A Find/Replace command
  15. ‚Ä¢    Multiple notes-files opened at one time.
  16. ‚Ä¢    A note will remember if it should be hidden.
  17. ‚Ä¢    The color notes use 32bit QD. This means that your color settings will be more accurately remembered and displayed.

  20. PasteIt Notes is system 7.0 studly. This means that PasteIt Notes:
  21. ‚Ä¢ will respond to the required apple events
  22. ‚Ä¢ supports balloon help
  23. ‚Ä¢ Is 32 bit clean
  24. ‚Ä¢ Compatible with TrueType (also shows the outline fonts in outline format).

  28. Important and NonObvious Information
  29. I'm glad that you're reading this paragraph. One really neat feature of PasteIt Notes is the 'Clean Up' commands submenu. This menu is used in conjunction with the Cleanup Preferences and the Set Note Defaults commands. You can set the default attribute of new notes (size, style, color, ...) to be those of an existing note. To do this, set up a note to be the way that you wish new notes to appear and then select the 'Set Note Defaults' command that's it!

  31. Now that you've set the defaults, you should also use the Cleanup Preferences Command to set the defaults for the Clean Up commands. When a note is cleaned up, it's attributes can be set to the default attributes as if it were a new note.

  33. You may wish to use this feature to tile you screen with a bunch of equally sized windows or to set the font of all your windows to be consistent.

  35. Color
  36. If you have a color system, you will be able to color your notes (I suggest canary yellow with black letters).

  39. PasteIt Notes has support for help balloons under 7.0.

  41. Moving and Resizing Windows (Important!)
  42. Windows can be moved or resized in two different ways. If you hold down the option and apple keys, the cursor will change to a crosshair icon. Place the icon in any window and hold the button down. You may drag the window elsewhere.

  44. This alternate method of moving windows is essential with the box and shadow box window styles (they don't have title bars to drag around!). These window styles can also be resized by dragging a side or a corner of the window with the apple and option keys held down.

  46. Iconifying Windows
  47. ‚Ä¢¬†You can un-iconify a window by double-clicking on the push-pin or title bar.
  48. ‚Ä¢¬†You can drag an icon by draging the icon's title bar or push pin.

  50. Multiple Notes Files May be Opened Simultaneously
  51. Multiple files may be opened simultaneously. Turn on the option via the power users preferences menu. Notice how the 'new note' and 'close note file' menu items become hierarchical menus when more then one file is open.
